Authorities in South Sudan have arrested a man suspected of killing one of the guards of First Vice President Taban Deng Gai last week in Juba.
Interior Minister Michael Chiangjiek told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that the vice president guards were involved in a dispute that led to the death of one of them.
He dismissed any allegations that the killing was politically motivated.
"This crime is far from politics, only a fight between the guards and the suspect was arrested," the minister explained.
The minister further revealed that 14 suspects have been arrested for being involved in a commotion in one nightclub in Munuki neighborhood in Juba last Sunday night, in which one person was killed.
Minister Chiangjiek said the nightclub has since been shut down to allow for investigations, claiming that the security situation within Juba is stable.
