South Sudanese security organs are continuing to arrest many teachers in Bor town in South Sudan’s Jonglei State following protests to demand unpaid salaries and promotions.
Ayuen Majok, Information Secretary of the Jonglei Teacher’s Union, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that more than 30 teachers were arrested while attending a meeting in Bor town on Thursday.
Ayuen accused the state governor of ordering the arrest of the striking teachers.
On Wednesday, security officers arrested two members of the striking teacher’s committee in Bor town for unclear reason.
