Security agents abduct student near PoC in Juba

South Sudan security agents are suspected of having kidnapped a high school student near one of the Protection of Civilians Sites (PoC) in Juba on Wednesday, according to displaced people at the site.

Several displaced people indentified the abducted student as David Marial. They added that Marial was intercepted by two uniformed security agents riding a motorbike and others in a tinted vehicle when on his way from PoC 1 to PoC3 on Wednesday.

IDPs say he was taken at gunpoint to an unknown destination. For his part, George Ruai, the brother of the arrested young man, pointed out that the incident is not the first of its kind in Juba. Ruai called on the UN Mission to intervene for the release of his brother.

He expressed discontent about what happens to the displaced people, saying the government was not supposed to carry out such acts against innocent civilians especially after a peace agreement was signed.
