South Sudanese secondary school students began sitting examinations across the country yesterday in 195 centres with two curriculums of both South Sudan and Sudan.

Lul Ruai Dhol, secretary for examinations, said in a press statement that the number of eligible students who sat for this year’s exams reached 22,181 students.

He pointed out that some students studied for three years per the Sudanese system, while others studied the four year Southern curriculum.

Lul said the exams will end on 22 April, noting that the government has secured all examination centres across the country.

Meanwhile, Francis Peter Gatkuak, Unity state supervisor of the secondary school examinations inside the UN base in Juba, said about 744 students sat for the exams yesterday.

Gatluak noted examinations papers have already reached various areas in Unity state except for Panyijar, Mayendit, and Leer counties where there are no students sitting there.
