Scores killed in Kajo-keji fighting

At least 10 government troops have been killed in clashes with rebel forces in Kajo-Keji county of Yei River State on Thursday and Friday, a rebel spokesman said.

Lam Paul Gabriel, a deputy military spokesman for the opposition group allied to former vice president Riek Machar, told Radio Tamazuj today that their forces managed to capture Bore, Sokare, Jalimo, Mangalatore and Logo areas in Kajo-keji County during fighting.

He admitted that four soldiers were killed from their side during fighting in the area of Kajo-Keji.

Yei’s information minister, Alfred Kenneth Duku, denied clashes between their forces and rebel fighters in Kajo-Keji.

The clashes which erupted, according to the government official, were between rebel forces allied to former vice president Riek Machar and a group loyal to the National Salvation Front (NAS) under General Thomas Cirilo.
