Schools in Yambio County of Western Equatoria State are directed to admit students who fled from conflict elsewhere in the state including in Maridi County.

State Minister of Education Pia Michael says there are over 6000 students who have come to Yambio who are not in school. He said the state government is keen to provide education to children wherever they are and he directed the schools in Yambio County to admit the students without any charge and allow them to use the uniforms they manage to escape with from Maridi.

He says schools in the two counties of Maridi and Mundri are still not fully operational with only a few in the outside payams working. He also says in Mundri West the county education department has been destroyed with computers, two motorbikes, and solar panels all taken and files destroyed.
