Schools for Abyei IDPs near Wau lack proper buildings

Refugees from Abyei living in Western Bahr El Ghazal lack proper schools for their children.

An educator at Bar Yar School, which is located in a camp occupied by people displaced from Abyei, said that the school is facing many problems. Most of the teachers are teaching on voluntary basis, he said.

‘The government did not support us to remove these problems’, said Yai Madut to Radio Tamazuj.

He pointed out that the school’s 6 classrooms are insufficient to hold the school’s 568 students.

Yai called for urgent supply of building materials to provide a conducive school environment to the children.
