A 16-year old girl was killed on Tuesday night by unknown men allegedly in military uniform in Torit town, police say.

Torit Police Spokesman Mathew Ochan told Radio Tamazuj that the late Mary Nyadak Koang was a student at Torit West Primary School, was shot dead by three armed men who escaped immediately after.

He said the armed men in military uniform came to the home of the diseased at around 9 PM.

“Information we received at the police station is the suspects are three armed people with military uniform. They came at night and asked the children where are your father and your mother. The children said their father went to the charcoal-place in the bush. They ordered the children out and shot one of them before escaping,” Ochan added.

The police official said they only received the information on Wednesday morning due to the poor communication network.

Ochan said the police have launched investigations into the incident.
