An outbreak of scabies has been reported in the Mazmum area of Sudan’s Sennar State, with more than 50 cases recorded.
Scabies is a contagious skin infection caused by mites. It spreads through direct skin-to-skin contact and infested garments and bedclothes.
Local sources revealed that the first cases emerged in the al-Jafrat area in the western part of Al Mazmum locality where more than 50 cases were eventually uncovered by Sudan Red Crescent measles vaccination teams.
Seven cases were also recorded at Omar ibn al-Khattab Basic Boys School.
