A bombing west of Kauda in Sudan’s South Kordofan killed three people and wounded three others on Sunday, witnesses told Radio Tamazuj.
Two Antonov aircrafts belonging to the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) are said to have carried out the attack on the region last Sunday. Witnesses from the area said that the Antonov dropped twelve bombs in two separate raids which killed two children named Yunan Yassir and Najum Juma as well as 33 year old Asmara Mahmoud.
They also named the injured as two children called Kate Juma and Labus Tarik alongside Salwa Mahmoud who suffered the loss of her right leg as well as severe facial injuries.
“The incident took place on Sunday February 17, 2013 at exactly 6.30pm and the raids were carried out in two different areas,” the source elaborated.
In another bombing farther south, the SAF attacked Jau on Friday resulting in the death of one civilian and one South Sudanese soldier in addition to the injury of three other civilians nearby, claimed Manyew Dak, Unity state security advisor.
Tensions between Sudan and South Sudan have been increasing lately as it was suggested that peace talks between the two nations may be postponed amidst ongoing border demarcation and oil disputes.
Meanwhile, SAF continue to fight Sudanese rebel groups, including the SPLA-North, in Blue Nile and South Kordofan states, triggering huge civilian displacement over the border into South Sudan.
