About 500 South Sudanese refugees living in Soba El Aradhi area on the outskirts of the Sudanese capital Khartoum report deteriorating humanitarian situations due to lack of food and shelter.
The refugees are currently living in an open area after dozens of families crossed from Joda checkpoint to the capital Khartoum.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, several conflict-affected families blamed their dire conditions on the South Sudanese Embassy in Khartoum for neglecting them.
Separately, the Sudanese Interior Ministry on Sunday announced a plan to register all South Sudanese nationals who have been affected by the conflict so that they are given special cards starting from February.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Service Omar Mohamed Ali said in a press statement yesterday that they discussed the registration of the South Sudanese nationals in a meeting of the police leadership. He added that they will begin distributing cards by February.
