Twic East County in South Sudan’s Jonglei State has run short of medicines, according to a local official.
Twic East County Commissioner Dau Akuei told Radio Tamazuj that the area is witnessing acute shortages of medicines due to the recent fire which gutted the whole building including a drugs store last week.
Dau further said the county now has receieved influxes of the conflict-affected people from Duk and other neighbouring areas.
The top county official pointed out that they reported what happened in the hospital to the state authorities, but without any positive response so far.
He called on health organizations and the National Ministry of Health to intervene quickly by providing and medicines and renovate the facility as soon as possible.
Last week, a fire burned medical equipments and medicines at Twic East Hospital. The official blamed lack of fire extinguishers for the losses.
