Director of the University of Juba’s Centre for Peace and Development Studies Luka Biong says that he does not expect recent clashes in Equatoria to cause failure of the peace agreement signed by President Salva Kiir and rebel leader Riek Machar last month.

In a weekly program aired on Radio Tamazuj today, Luka urged people not to lose hope because of what is happening but rather to support the efforts aimed at implementation of the peace agreement.

However, Luka said these clashes claimed many innocent lives and are unfortunate.

The South Sudanese scholar called upon traditional leaders and civil society to support the implementation of the peace agreement, emphasizing that people should benefit from peace now, even though security challenges remain in some areas.
