An unidentified unit of soldiers in the Kilo Ashara area of Sudan’s White Nile State has given the South Sudanese refugees who are currently living in the area an ultimatum to leave within a few days.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, several refugees have expressed their concern about the expulsion by the group.
They noted that leaders and chiefs from the camp talked to the local authorities in White Nile to investigate the threats received by the refugees, but the state government denied any knowledge of it.
The group was headed by a major-general of police believed to be working in the Interior Ministry, according to the refugees.
“The solders came and gave us a deadline to evacuate the camp by next Sunday. The leaders tried to talk to the authorities but without any positive gesture,” a refugee said.
“Some families have actually begun to pack their things and then return southward to Geiger Payam in Renk County” the same source explained.
Radio Tamazuj was unable to reach the concerned authorities in White Nile to comment on the issue.
