The Sudanese Ministry of Petroleum and Mining signed a two year deal Saturday with oil companies operating in South Sudan’s blocks 3 and 7 worth $183 million in pipeline fees.
The agreement, signed by petroleum ministry undersecretary Awad Al-Karim Mohamed Khair and the directors of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Petronas, and Thani Pet companies, detailed payment systems and entitlements of each company according to its share in oil production.
The deal will go into effect in September until the end of 2017. The companies are required to pay Khartoum within two weeks of the signing.
In a press statement to Sudan News Agency (SUNA), Khair said that the government will own 95% of the pipeline, while 5% will owned by the oil companies.
Khair commended the oil companies’ cooperation in the oil sector.
