South Sudan’s Foreign Minister said the United Nations Security Council delegation arriving in Juba Tuesday will hold a special summit to determine an end to the country’s eight month civil war.

Speaking Monday at Juba Airport upon his arrival from Addis Ababa, Barnaba Marial Benjamin said the Security Council should make known its position to the government of South Sudan regarding how they want the peace process to proceed in order to end the country’s humanitarian disaster.

Marial accused the rebels of violating the last ceasefire, which went into effect May 10.

He said the rebels have been delaying and dragging their feet.  He accused them of blocking peace talks by refusing to have the former political detainees participate.

Marial said he was assigned by President Salva Kiir to visit Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, and Ethiopia to tell the explain the government’s position and rally support.
