The South Sudan Civil Society Alliance (SSCSA) has called for inclusion of all armed groups including those of Peter Gadet into the South Sudan peace process.

Speaking to journalists after a Monday meeting with presidential envoy for peace Akol Lual, SSCSA chairman Akuj Ajang, said the meeting discussed the possibilities of them joining their efforts together with the presidential envoy to reach the armed groups in order to join the peace process.

“We as civil society must work together to bring everyone who has taken up arm and negotiate with them. Dialogue is the only way to build South Sudan,” Ajang said.

He added that the meeting discussed the current economic crisis in the country, stressing the importance of participation of all in the peace process.

For his part, envoy Akol said they are ready to cooperate with the SSCSA for participation of everyone in the peace process.

He said they have begun talks with leaders of some armed groups which did not join the peace agreement to convince them to join.

Lual stressed the importance of conducting the reconciliation process among all tribes in the country.

Some armed groups have rejected the peace deal signed by president Salva Kiir and first vice president Riek Machar last year.
