An alliance of South Sudan civil society organizations on Tuesday reiterated its position rejecting the deployment of regional protection troops in Juba.

In July, the alliance organized peaceful demonstrations in the streets of Juba to protest against the deployment of regional protection force.

 Akuoch Ajang, chairperson of civil society alliance, said in a press conference that they reject the deployment of regional troops in the country, saying the force will not be able to provide security to the people of South Sudan.

Akuoch called on the SPLA army to initiate dialogue with citizens in order to provide security instead of the regional protection force.
