South Sudan’s chief of staff Gen. Paul Malong Awan met Egypt’s Defence Minister and Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces Gen. Sedki Sobhi in Cairo this week.
The meeting reportedly touched on a military cooperation between Cairo and Juba, as well as security challenges facing the African continent.
In March 2014, the South Sudanese government signed a bi-lateral military cooperation with Egypt, less than a week after it reached a consensus on a similar matter with neighbouring Sudan.
The deal, according the state-ran SSTV, was signed after a South Sudanese delegation led by defense minister Kuol Manyang Juuk visited Cairo.
