A lawmaker in South Sudan’s Ruweng State has complained about the rise in the number of street children in the state.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, the member of the state legislative assembly Arop Kok Ter described the numbers of the street children as worrying and appealed to the relevant authorities to act.

Arop revealed that more than 400 children are roaming the streets in Abiemnhom East and West areas.

The state legislator called on NGOs to do something as soon as possible before the street children mutate into hard-core criminals.
