Officials in Abiemnhom West County of South Sudan’s Ruweng state have warned of looming famine after the rainy season.
Heavy rain and floods have continued to destroy crops and livelihoods in different parts of the country.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Abiemnhom West County Commissioner, Marial Manyiel said the destruction by the rains will lead to famine.
“Floods have destroyed crops, and by December, if aid organizations do not intervene to save the situation, the people may be displaced by famine,” he lamented.
The commissioner appealed to humanitarian organizations to come to the area and provide the much-needed aid to reduce the suffering of the people.
