Russia's ambassador to Sudan, Mirgayas Shirinsky, was found dead at his residence in Khartoum city on Wednesday, Sudan’s foreign ministry said.
"The Russian ambassador died this evening at his Khartoum residence," the ministry said.
The Sudanese government didn’t provide more details about the cause of death, but Shirinskiy was reportedly known to have suffered from high blood pressure.
The foreign ministry expressed its condolences to Russia in a statement, commending Shirinskiy’s diplomatic efforts to enhance diplomatic ties between the two countries.
