The Rumbek Agar Youth Union Organization (RUMYU) Chairperson, Warkok Jur, has appealed to the international NGOs, the civil society and the State Government to help address the unemployment crisis in Lakes State.
Yuot made the appeal during the International Peace Day commemoration on Saturday.
“I appreciate all the peace partners for uniting to bring peace in Lakes State,” he said.
“It will be impossible to achieve political and economic stability in the country if we do not have peace and harmony, and it will be difficult to unite the cultures.”
He said the youth needed to be trained on how to maintain peace.
The chairperson of the Civil Society Network (CiSON) in Lakes State Angelina Adhel, said the network, in partnership with all the CSOs, were committed to peace building, the promotion of justice and conflict management.
Rumbek Centre County Commissioner Dut Manak appealed to the humanitarian agencies to double their efforts in helping the communities in need of assistance in Lakes State’s flood-affected areas.
Lakes State Peace Building Minister Nyanhok Malou Marial appreciated Governor Rin Tueny Mabor for bringing peace and freedom to the state.
She recognized peace as key to life because everything else depended on it.
“If you have free education without peace, there will be no education and no child will go to school,” she said. “During the hard times in Lakes State, teachers were killed and now there is peace and were moving about freely,” she added.
