Women in Rumbek town of Lakes State benefitted from a 3-day administration and leadership forum organized by the Peacebuilding Opportunities Fund (POF) since Monday.
In an interview with Radio Tamazuj, the guest of honor, Maria Gideon Gakmar urged the women leaders group to stay organized and united while lobbying and seeking political positions in government.
She urged women in Lakes State to support each other in demanding the 35 percent affirmative action and avoid gossips which she says is a major cause of women's failure.
Maria said affirmative action will help vulnerable women in rural areas to address and resolve most of their challenges.
Shaloma Manyiel said the workshop is important and prepares women leaders to effectively perform their assigned duties.
However, the women's chairlady Agum Joseph Kuc told women not to allow men to snatch from them a woman opportunity in the government.
"There are many key opportunities in the government men have snatched, like now there is no woman in a position of a director-general or other administrative position in Lakes State," she said.
Agum urged the government to provide women with administrative positions during the upcoming formation of the government in the state.
More than 40 women attended the training.
