A 30-year-old woman in the town of Rumbek in Lakes State has delivered quadruplets in what doctors call a rare case.

Isaac Mading Abiel, a midwife at Rumbek Hospital, told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that Nyanjok Dut delivered the babies, two boys and two girls, at the state hospital on Tuesday.

Mading, who was part of the team that delivered the babies, said the mother and newborns are now stable.

He said officials from the state social development ministry have donated milk, soap and clothes to the mother of the quadruplets. Mading revealed that the mother would stay in hospital for a month.

For his part, the father of the quadruplets, Mapuor Dut Kuet has appealed to the South Sudanese government to support his family.

"I am just appealing to the government to support me in this difficult time because I have nothing to feed four kids and their mother,” said Mapuor.

Mapuor urges his Maleng-Agok community to support his family.
