Rumbek North, Cueibet counties conclude peace conference

A two day peace conference between Rumbek North and Cueibet Counties in South Sudan’s Lakes State was concluded on Monday.

A two day peace conference between Rumbek North and Cueibet Counties in South Sudan’s Lakes State was concluded on Monday.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Cueibet County Commissioner Mayom Malek said dozens of representatives from the local authorities and the two counties attended the conference that took place in Rumbek North to try to end the violence over cattle.

The county official further said the meeting resolved to return back cattle stolen since April. The commissioner pointed out that they formed a joint committee to follow up on the agreement reached during the conference.
