A 28-year-old man has been admitted to the Rumbek State Hospital after cutting off his manhood.
However, police authorities investigating the matter said it could be a case of a mental problem, adding that the man was in a stable condition in hospital.
The incident occurred at Rumbek Town’s Akuac residential area on Sunday.
Lakes State Police Spokesperson Maj Elijah Mabor Makuac told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that the incident happened at around 3pm.
Makuac said information indicated that the man was having a mental problem, but had recovered.
“He just decided to cut off his manhood, which is an attempted suicide. So, he was evacuated to the Rumbek State Hospital where he is admitted and receiving treatment. But he is recovering well,” he said.
The Medical Director of the Rumbek State Hospital, Dr Terran Madit Terran, said there was an incident that happened on Sunday at 5pm when they received a call from the emergency department.
“I rushed to see what was happening, but to my surprise, there was a young man of around 28 years old in a kind of trauma and bleeding profusely,” he said.
“I worked on him to stop the bleeding and then added him one unit of blood because he was almost collapsing,” he added.
