The Abyei Secretary of Transportation stated that rugged and bumpy roads caused difficulty in the process of returning refugees back to Abyei town and its surrounding villages.

Abraham Koc Kiir Kuo told Radio Tamazuj that the road from Abyei to Aneit is very rugged and especially from Awal-nhom Bridge and Bay Taw Nhom to inside Abyei town, which slows down the return process of the displaced people to the area, despite the strong desire of the citizens to return to Abyei.

Tens of thousands fled the Abyei area after the Sudanese Armed Forces entered the area in May last year.
