A herder from the Rufa’a Al Hawa nomadic tribe was killed and other wounded by unknown gunmen during a livestock raid in Buth vilage in Sudan’s Blue Nile State, according to a traditional leader.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, the Rufa‘a Al Hawa tribal leader Mohamed Ansari stated about four pastoralists were ambushed by unidentified criminals at a grazing site yesterday.

The incident resulted in the killing of one herder and wounded another, he said, adding the assailants took about 1300 head of sheep and managed to run away.

Al Ansari frankly accused elements of Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North of involvement in the incident. He noted they had reported the matter to the authorities concerned in Blue Nile but saw no reaction so far.
