At least 451 cases of hepatitis B were recorded in greater Rubkona County of Unity State in June, July and August, a local health official said.
In the Last two months, Unity State reported some cases from the Bentiu IDP hospital and Bentiu hospital.
County Health Director Jal Kuol told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday evening that 451 cases of hepatitis B were recorded between June and August.
The disease is transmitted by blood, semen and other body fluids from an infected person.
Kuol said infection could happen through sexual contact and by the sharing of needles and syringes.
He said none of the 451 patients died from the infection, adding that they were under treatment at the Bentiu hospital and IDP camp hospital under MSF.
We have been advising our people to go for checkups after three months, so that those infected can be put on medication immediately, Kuol said.
