South Sudan’s minister for parliamentary affairs and chairman of the border demarcation committee, Michael Makuey Lueth, met yesterday with senior community figures from the disputed border area of Manyo County in Upper Nile state regarding the area’s border demarcation with Sudan.

Lueth told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that they conducted a series of meetings over two days with intellectuals from the areas of Babinis, Adahum, al-Maginis, Kaka Tajaria, all bordering Renk County.

Speaking with people in the respective areas, they were able to conduct research on the positioning of the border in those areas and any issues associated with that.

The meetings are intended to inform the work of the joint border demarcation committee, as formed based on the cooperation agreement last September in Addis Ababa.
