The Rapid Support Forces (RSF), East Darfur sector, have accused Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) forces loyal to Minni Arko Minawi of killing 12 individuals and carrying out looting along the Nyala-El Daein road last Tuesday.

Major Hamdan Mohammad Al-Ajib, a leader within the Rapid Support Forces, told Radio Tamazuj that their forces have apprehended the vehicle involved in the incident and a suspect inside.

“Upon searching the vehicle, we found a movement order bearing the names of the accused issued by the Minawi Command, El Fasher office,” Major Al-Ajib stated.

He pointed out that further investigation revealed the involvement of members of the Minawi movement, confirmed by the arrested individual, who confessed to the crime and identified other participants, as per military movement order documents.

Al-Ajib reported that a committee was dispatched to the Labado region to collect the remaining accused individuals. Major Al-Ajib expressed hope for a response from the Minawi leadership to hand over those accused of involvement in a massacre against women and children along the road.

For its part, the Sudan Liberation Movement, led by Minawi, has denied any connection to the militants arrested for the incident that took place on the El Daein-Nyala road.

Minni Arko Minawi, the movement’s leader and governor of the Darfur region, emphasized on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that the movement is not responsible for any individual or group carrying out such hostile actions.

He assured cooperation in providing information and resources to apprehend the perpetrators, regardless of their affiliation with the movement.
