The Al-Hasahisa Locality Resistance Committees on Friday accused the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of killing three people in the village of Abdul Rahman Al-Muslimiya in El Gazira State.
In a statement extended to Radio Tamazuj, the committees said that RSF soldiers attacked the village of Abdul Rahman Abdul Rahman Al-Muslimiya and murdered Youssef Omar, Ibrahim Abboud, and Nizar.
“The purpose of the attack and invasion of these villages was not to carry out robberies, but rather to carry out deliberate operations to forcibly displace the villagers,” partly reads in the statement.
For his part, Lt. Col. Al-Fateh Gurashi, the official spokesman for the Rapid Support Forces, claimed in an interview with Radio Tamazuj that those atrocities were committed by “the former regime brigades and Darfuri armed movements led by Minni Arko Minnawi and Jibril Ibrahim.”
He added that the statements issued to criminalize Rapid Support Forces (RSF) soldiers are not based on facts on the ground but rather on false information. “The Rapid Support Forces has no interest in committing atrocities in El Gazira State,” he said.
He added,” The groups that are carrying out violations against civilians in El Gazira State are terrorist groups of the Islamic Brigade and armed movements led by Minni Minawi and Jibril Ibrahim,” he added.
In December last year, the paramilitary RSF seized El Gazira State from the army.
The Sudanese army and the RSF have been fighting since mid-April last year in a war that has killed more than 13,000 people and which the United Nations says has displaced 8.2 million.
The fighting has continued to escalate despite international attempts to forge a lasting ceasefire.
Throughout the current war, both the army and the RSF have been accused of war crimes, including the indiscriminate shelling of residential areas, and arbitrary detention of civilians.
