RSF accused of attacking several villages in Al-Jazeera State

The Al-Hisahisa Resistance Committees in Sudan’s Al Jazeera State on Sunday accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of committing new violations and killing several citizens in villages in the Tabat area.

A press statement extended to Radio Tamazuj by the resistance committees said the RSF attacked the village of Maryood with the intention of robbery, resulting in the killing of four citizens, including a child.

“The RSF militia attacked the village of Maryood in rural Tabat with the aim of looting and theft, resulting in the martyrdom of Mohammed Abbas Sugud, Alfatih Abdullah Areeq, and Samir Alsir Omar and we consider them martyrs before Allah. There were also several injuries of varying degrees among the citizens,” the statement read in part. “The RSF attacked the village of Umdwana in rural Tabat several times in the recent past, the first of which was on 17 February 2024, during which the militia committed all forms of violations against innocent citizens, including robbery, theft, beating, intimidation, and threats with weapons to obtain the villagers' properties.”

“The latest attack by the rebel militia, which was more brutal than its predecessors, resulted in the martyrdom of two young men, Mohammed Ahmed Mohammed Abbas and Abdullah Alzein Abbas Mohammed,” it added.

Muayyad Jamal, a member of the Al-Hisahisa Resistance Committees, told this publication that the RSF has been forcefully displacing villagers.

“The villages in the Tabat area have been subjected to organized attacks by RSF and in addition to Al-Hamadab village, Wadi Shuaib village, and all the rural villages of Tabat, they have always been forcibly displacing citizens,” he said.

According to Jamal, the RSF have committed the worst kinds of violations by firing at citizens resulting in the deaths and injuries of several people.

He explained that some of the injured were transferred to the hospital in Al-Managil, where a 4-year-old child, Abbas ibn Mohammed Abbas, later died.

Jamal stated that RSF raided the villages and came with vehicles to transport the properties looted from residents.

“The attacks by RSF on the villages of the region have continued, with the latest being on 29 April which was the most brutal and involved looting, theft, and displacement,” he added.

Meanwhile, General Yusuf Osman, the RSF director of the police in Al-Jazeera State, confirmed that he conducted a tour with the head of the civil administration to several villages in Al-Jazeera that were subjected to violations.

He pointed out that the visit aimed to understand the incidents, and negative phenomena, and listen to the complaints of citizens.

“Armed outlaws have indeed attacked citizens,” he confirmed.

Gen. Osman promised to work on restoring order and security in the state through a comprehensive plan, revealing an operational plan for the state by intensifying patrols until these negative phenomena and chaos are eradicated.
