Armed robbers broke into a guesthouse compound in Tongping residential area and stole cash amounting to SSP 100,000 from a Christian missionary, sources said.
The incident occurred at 3:15 am on Saturday.
About five robbers, one armed with AK-47 and the others with machetes, entered the guesthouse after they have tied the security guard stealing a sum of 3,900 SSP and a mobile phone.
They then broke into the kitchen door and once inside they stole laptops, a digital camera, mobile phone, and solar inverter system.
When the missionary asked one of the robbers not to kill him, the robber told him they would not harm him because they were Christians. “I am a Christian, I don’t kill,” one of the robbers is said to have told the missionary.
This incident comes after another robbery in the Tomping area last month targeting the Christian organization IAS.
Police have reportedly arrested one of the robbers in connection with the Saturday robbery and recovered some of the stolen items.
