Citizens in Kuacjok town in South Sudan’s Warrap State have reported a scarcity of essential commodities and clothing at the market in the run-up to Christmas as goods are blocked due to insecurity.

Akech Mayar, a member of the chamber of commerce, told Radio Tamazuj that insecurity along the Western Bahr al Ghazal-Western Equatoria road has stopped movement of many commercial convoys, saying most of the traders stop in Yambio town only.

He pointed out that Kwajok town is witnessing scarcity of essential commodities, which caused rising prices of clothes.

Mayar pointed out that prices of some clothes reach 700 South Sudanese pounds. “Honestly, the issue of prices in Kuacjok is very difficult. Now there are about 19 trucks now in Yambio, they are not able to come to Warrap state,” he said.

There have been a number of violent road incidents lately on roads in Western Bahr el Ghazal and Western Equatoria states.
