Road construction is planned between Central Equatoria State and the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA), according to a spokesman of the latter area, which has become autonomous from Jonglei State following a peace agreement last year.
Same David, Minister of Information and Communication for the Greater Pibor Administrative Area said the Central Equatoria government has committed to help build a stretch of the road between Pibor and Central Equatoria.
David told Radio Tamazuj today that the Central Equatoria government will start construction from Bor Junction before reaching Mangala Payam toward GPAA, a distance of 39 km to Ayieng Bridge.
“The initiative came as the result of the cooperation between the two states of Central Equatoria and Greater Pibor Administrative Area and that’s why Governor Clement Konga supported the program,” David said.
He said the distance remaining will be the responsibility of the GPAA.
Asked whether they received any support from the Jonglei State government since the separation from the government of Jonglei, David denied that GPAA received any support from Jonglei State.
