A group of youths from the Rizeigat tribe in Sudan’s East Darfur State have given the investigation committee formed by the National Ministry of Justice an ultimatum to leave the area within 24 hours.
This was stated in a petition presented to the governor on Tuesday. In the petition seen by Radio Tamazuj, the Rizeigat youths also said Al Obeid-Ad Daein road which leads to the area inhabited by the Ma’alia tribe should be reopened immediately.
Meanwhile, a source from Ad Daien town told Radio Tamazuj that the local authorities arrested a Rizeigat tribesman, prompting the youths to regroup themselves and petition the governor.
For his part, Mahmud Musa Madibo, deputy nazir of the Rizeigat tribe, told Radio Tamazuj that they reject the investigation committee tasked by the government to investigate the recent deadly clashes in Abu Karinka Locality.
The tribal leader further said the committee has already questioned the state security committee and government officials, but it didn’t investigate native administration leaders.
He pointed out that the investigation committee should have investigated incidents that preceded the Abu Karinka clashes. Madibo confirmed that the investigation committee was in Ad Daein town yesterday.
