A delegation of 100 Rizeigat sultans plus women leaders have arrived in Aweil from Sudan for a peace conference with the Dinka Malual people regarding seasonal migration into South Sudan’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.

The conference will review past principles agreed by the bordering tribes on their movements with cattle for pasture. A similar peace conference was held in mid-December 2014 between Dinka Malual leaders and the Arab Messeriya from Sudan.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj upon their arrival in Aweil, the head of the Rizeigat Peace Committee Mohmed Ali Al-Gurushi said the conference will start Monday 19 January in Aweil West.

“The conference will be conducted in Nyamlel town in Aweil West County and it will last for three days,” Ali said, adding that 100 Dinka Malual sultans will attend as well.

Ali said he hopes the conference will improve the relationship between the border states of East Darfur and Northern Bahr al Gahzal and review the guiding principles of nomadic movement between them.
