The state government of the Sudan’s East Darfur revealed arrangements for an upcoming conference between the Dinka Malual and Rizeigat tribes in Northern Bahr al-Ghazal state on 20 January.
Traditional leaders – historically referred to as the ‘native administration’ or civil administration – will meet to resolve a number of contentious issues, especially on the security side.
Musa Jalis, a member of the East Darfur state legislative assembly stated that the localities along both sides of the border, including Bahr al-Arab and al-Fordos, were not affected by the current tense situation in South Sudan.
He further explained that the conference will discuss basically the security matters, especially pastures, nomads’ movement and all possible problems which could arise from the pastoralists’ movement.
