River transport between Bor town and Minkaman of Awerial County resumed on Monday after three days suspension over increased transportation fees, a local official said.

 “What we have agreed upon is 500 SSP per person, and it has started. People are crossing to Awerial for 500 SSP,” said Mamer Agot Thiong, chairperson of Boat Union in Bor.

Mamer further said the union and Bor town mayor agreed on 500 SSP.

On Thursday, Jonglei government issued a 72-hour ultimatum to suspend river transport between Bor town and Minkaman of Awerial County after the boat owners decided to increase the fees from 400 SSP to 700 SSP over fuel shortage.
