Sennar town these days is witnessing a sharp rise in the prices of consumer goods, amid complaints from citizens and demand for a solution for the situation. A number of citizens from Sennar said that the majority of commodities prices are on increasing, as the price of one sack of fetrita sorghum increased from 150 to 185 Sudanese pounds and millet to 220 pounds. Citizens also complained of the lack of balila adasiya (a kind of red bean).A sack of sugar reached 350 pounds and a sack of onions has increased to 420 pounds. Farmers complained that the sacks themselves have increased in prices to ten pounds. This, together with the increase of the workers’ tariff has contributed to the reasons for the harsh living conditions facing the state in general.
