Rights organisation calls for release of Nuba activist

Amnesty International has called for the immediate release of the Nuba human rights activist and NGO worker Jalila Khameis, kidnapped by security services last week.

Khameis was taken from her home in Khartoum by the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS).

'They just kidnapped her in seconds, when we got outside the house they had already left', said Khameis's husband to Arry human rights organisation.

Amnesty has written to government officials to demand the protection of Khameis's human rights, ensuring she is not abused in detention and able to meet her family and lawyers.

They also demand she gains access to medical care if she is in need.
