South Sudan’s former first vice president and rebel leader Riek Machar issued a decree appointing Wau governor and his deputy to serve in areas controlled by his SPLM-IO faction.

The decree comes after cancellation of previous appointments of Gen. Anthony Fada Taban as governor of Wau State and Francis Dongo Dange as deputy governor of Wau State on 5 January due to some anomalies.

According to the decree on 10 January, Machar appointed Dominic Julio Bawella Ogolla as new governor of Wau State and Gen. Anthony Fada Taban as deputy governor of Wau State.
