The heads of South Sudan’s two main warring factions are entering a summit meeting of IGAD Heads of State this afternoon without any prepared deal, following the failure of talks today, according to a source in Addis Ababa.

Leaders of East African IGAD bloc countries from Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda, Kenya and elsewhere are expected at the meeting this afternoon.

Though the summit has been proceeding somewhat behind schedule, SPLM-IO faction leader Riek Machar and SPLM-Juba faction leader Salva Kiir held two meetings today, one in the morning and another in the afternoon.

The deputy spokesman of SPLM-IO Manawa Gatkuoth told Radio Tamazuj that the parties did not agree on anything during these meetings. Further details were not immediately available as talks are still ongoing and the heads of state are now meeting.
