The Sudan Revolutionary Front, the alliance between Darfuri resistance groups and the northern branch of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement said it has driven out army soldiers in battles in Blue Nile and East Darfur.
The Front said it defeated soldiers and seized their weapons and equipment, but the Sudanese army denied battles in those areas.
SPLM-N spokesman Arnu Ngutulu Lodi said the Front ‘achieved a great victory’ in fighting that took place in an area of Blue Nile last Friday.
He said Front forces are still pursuing troops the the area.
Sudanese army spokesman Al Sawarmi Khaled Saad denied fighting had took place and said it was ‘a fabrication for the media’.
But he did accuse the Justice and Equality Movement of looting residents in Ajaja in East Darfur, an accusation JEM denies.
