People returning to Abyei Area complained of horrible services amid fears of worsening health conditions of their elders and children. They called on organizations to immediately intervene.
A number of displaced people returning to villages north of Abyei stated to Radio Tamazuj that the villages north of Abyei were completely devoid of life due to lack of water sources, hospitals, and food. There are no mills either, forcing villagers to return to the displaced sites in Aneit and Agok on foot for 9 hours to produce flour.
They also noted that the suffering of the elders and children due to an outbreak cases of infections and flu amid a complete absence of hospitals.
Returnees also say they lack of tarpaulins in the villages which means that they have to sleep under trees despite the rainfall in the region this time of year.
The returnees requested that the authorities responsible for the return of the displaced people play their role in the provision of life necessities for the returnees in villages around Abyei before the situation gets out of hand.
