Displaced people returning to Northern Bahr El Ghazal live amid harsh humanitarian conditions, lacking shelter and basic services. Some of them have demanded the authorities allow them to return to Sudan if no improvements are made to the current situation.

A number of returnees from Kan Ajak in Aweil East County told Radio Tamazuj that they are forced to live under trees and bushes for shelter in a state of constant degradation. They have lost hope in the capabilities of the authorities to provide health care, education, water, food and shelters. They state that the current situation is forcing them to return to Sudan.

The commissioner of Aweil East County told Radio Tamazuj that returnees’ request for agricultural lands should be directed towards humanitarian aid organizations because it is not the government’s job to provide this.
