Retired SPLA-North officer criticizes movement’s leadership

One of the seven senior SPLA-North officers removed from active service and designated ‘retired’ in early August has said his dismissal from active duty is illegal.

In an interview with Radio Tamazuj, Brigadier Yasir Ja’afar Sanhouri urged SPLA-North Chairman Malik Agar to reverse his decision.

Sanhouri said he and his dismissed colleagues have been calling for Agar, Secretary General Yasir Arman, and Deputy Chairman Abdel-Aziz Al Hilu to listen to views of others and sit down with the membership of the movement in order to develop solutions.

“We hope that the leadership will reverse its decision because we want to build institutions to avoid such mistakes,” he said.

Sanhouri said SPLA-N meetings are being held by those three people only and that the decision to put them into retirement was taken randomly.

The retired SPLA-N officer said such a decision will not serve the aspirations of the movement’s supporters.

Besides Sanhouri, the retired officers include Ramadan Hassan Nemir, Ahmed Balqa, Ali Bandar, and Omar Fur, among others.
