Rebels loyal to the former first vice president Riek Machar have abducted a retired chief in Uror County in Bieh state on Monday, a government official said.
The retired chief was identified as Manyang Gatluak Thoah.
Bieh’s minister of information Peter Mabor Bol Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that the rebels had kidnaped Manyang while on his way from Yuai to Pieri. “We don’t know the whereabouts of Manyang until now,” he said.
The minister urged the rebels to protect all civilians in the state.
The missing retired chief is a brother to the government appointed governor of Bieh state Moses Majok Gatluak.
